NACD Announces New Chair of its Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, May 26, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the advocate for the profession of directorship, has elected Dr. Karen Horn to serve as chair of its board of directors effective May 25, 2016. Horn succeeds Dr. Reatha Clark King, who has served as chair of the NACD board since 2013 and will now serve as chair emerita.

“I am honored to be NACD’s chair,” Horn said. “I look forward to supporting NACD’s mission to help our members lead with confidence in the boardroom.”

Horn joined NACD’s board in 2011 and has most recently served as NACD’s vice chair. She also serves as the chair of the nominating and corporate-governance committee for Simon Property Group Inc., as vice chair of the U.S. Russia Foundation for Economic Development and the Rule of Law, and as vice chair of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Previously, Horn served on the boards of Eli Lilly, where she was lead director and chair of the compensation committee, Norfolk Southern Corp., where she was chair of the audit committee, and of T. Rowe Price Mutual Funds. Horn is a limited partner of Brock Capital Group LLC and was co-chair of the NACD Blue Ribbon Commission on the Board and Long-Term Value Creation.

“The expectations for directors have never been higher,” said NACD CEO Ken Daly. “In her role as vice chair, Karen’s wealth of board experience has proven invaluable as we develop programs to engage and empower board members. She is an excellent choice to lead our board.”

“I am very pleased to pass the baton to Karen,” said King. “Her unique and diverse background makes her the perfect leader to guide NACD’s future.”
