Compuware Named to Database Trends and Applications’ “DBTA 100”

List Recognizes Companies That Are Unique and Effective in Addressing Data-Related Challenges

DETROIT, June 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Compuware Corporation, the world’s leading mainframe-dedicated software company, today announced it has been named to Database Trends and Applications’ “DBTA 100” list, which recognizes the “most important companies in data today.” Compuware is one of 100 companies highlighted in the special June edition of Database Trends and Applications and on its website, dbta.com.

“Mainframe data represents the crown jewels of many enterprises, and a wide range of new imperatives, like DevOps, the ‘Right to be Forgotten’ privacy mandates and increasing cyber security risks, all require a renewed focus on proper mainframe data management,” says Christopher O’Malley, CEO, Compuware. “We are pleased to offer a range of products that help increase the maneuverability, compliance, protection and security of this vital resource.”

Compuware’s flagship product is Topaz, a solution suite that helps enterprise customers tap the business value of their mainframe environments, providing visibility which makes it easy for veteran and novice developers alike to understand, modify, and troubleshoot mainframe code and data. Topaz was launched in January 2015. One key feature is advanced data visualization, which gives developers, testers and data architects—particularly those unfamiliar with mainframes—a simple, intuitive way to edit data with a single enterprise data editor and to understand data relationships through graphic representations. This allows them to develop and test more quickly on the mainframe, while avoiding mistakes.

These same visualization capabilities also help ensure compliance with the European Union’s recent “Right to be Forgotten” mandates, by helping IT teams ensure complete identification and removal of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) across highly complex enterprise environments. Compuware also offers a Test Data Privacy solution that helps ensure protection of PII data and minimizes risk when mainframe data is accessed for software testing purposes.

Compuware is also taking steps to ensure stronger security for mainframe users. The company recently announced their integration with Splunk and CorreLog, leading Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools providers. With these integrations, mainframe users will be better able to proactively identify “insider” and “privileged access” threats, by understanding which employees are accessing specific applications and data, when the access occurred, how often, and how that access diverges from other similar users. This will help enhance security while reducing compliance-related costs.
