MODULO: The Cable Industry Challenge - Speed, Capacity, Optimization, and DOCSIS 3.1

ANGACOM: DEV Launches Innovative Modules for HFC Networks

FRIEDBERG, Germany, June 03, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- It is critical for Cable Operators to significantly increase the efficiency and capacity of their existing HFC (hybrid fiber-coax) networks in order to support the growing bandwidth demands for broadband services.  Existing HFC infrastructure must be upgraded – by optimizing the network.  Complete and extensive overbuilds are not a viable option. Not only must existing networks be upgraded in order to enable the economical expansion of broadband services, it must be done seamlessly without disrupting existing infrastructure. This requires high quality building blocks and components that reduce complexity, in order to meet the growing demand for bandwidth optimization related to the roll out of the DOCSIS 3.1 standard.

DEV Systemtechnik, a Quintech Company, will showcase its advanced technology for HFC Networks at ANGACOM 2016 in Cologne Germany. MODULO is the next generation solution consisting of universal, space saving active and passive components for RF transmission, for both upstream and downstream applications.  Collectively, the company draws on over two decades of field-proven cable plant infrastructure technology experience, and its position as a primary supplier of components for installing and upgrading legacy and greenfield HFC cable networks.  MODULO raises the bar in quality and performance for these network applications and upgrades, and fully supports the DOCSIS 3.1 transmission standard.

  • Universal: a single module, either a Splitter with monitoring port, or a Combiner with monitoring port, provides a 50% reduction in RU footprint
  • Smart: Designed and engineered to meet customer needs and network configuration challenges.  All modules are designed with equalizers, amplifiers (gain and slope), redundancy switches, optical receivers and transmitters and RF modules for E/O transmission.  Integration into a Monitoring & Control System allows for real-time observation of RF signals
  • Easy: All modules have been designed with operator functionality in mind, regardless of customer network variations and requirements, all in a single MODULO chassis
