Joel Feldman Recognized for Extraordinary Dedication to Ending Distracted Driving

Anapol Weiss Senior Partner Joel Feldman Accepts Award for Leadership in Memory of his Daughter, Casey Feldman

PHILADELPHIA, July 11, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Anapol Weiss Senior Partner Joel Feldman received the Pennsylvania Association for Justice’s (PAJ) 2016 President’s Award on Saturday, June 18. He was honored with the award for his commitment to raising awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.

PAJ President Jason Matzus, who nominated Feldman for this distinction, said that, “Joel, a long time member of PAJ, brings so much heart to the issue of distracted driving. Following the death of his daughter Casey by a distracted driver in 2009, Joel has become one of the leading advocates for safe, non-distracted driving in the U.S. He has made a real difference that his daughter would be proud of, as we are too.”

Over a 30-year career, Feldman has dedicated himself to successfully defending those injured and the families of those lost as a result of negligence. His notable verdicts and settlements include a $2.5 million award in a distracted driving car crash and a $2 million settlement involving a distracted tractor-trailer driver, among many others.

Feldman and his wife, Dianne Anderson, founded the organization End Distracted Driving (EndDD.org) after the death of their daughter. He has worked with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to develop a scientifically-based distracted driving presentation, which has been seen by more than 300,000 people in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, through EndDD.org, Feldman coordinates the efforts of hundreds of lawyers, health care professionals, safety advocates, and driver’s education professionals in giving distracted driving awareness presentations in their communities.

Anapol Weiss Director Sol Weiss, in reflecting on Feldman’s distinction, said, “What is most noteworthy about Joel’s career is not the settlement figures he’s earned for his clients, though that in and of itself is a reflection of his prowess as a lawyer. What stands out as paramount is his outstanding example of leadership.”

The outgoing PAJ president gives the President’s Award every year to someone who dedicates exemplary dedication to changing their community. Feldman delivered a moving speech as he accepted the award, talking the audience through his personal journey and how far is still left to go to end distracted driving. He said, “I am honored to receive this award for the work I do in memory of my daughter, Casey. I am fortunate to be able to work with teens to change the way society looks at distracted driving.”

PAJ formally recognized Feldman as the 2016 President’s Award recipient at the PAJ Awards Reception in Hershey, PA. He was joined by his partners, his colleagues from across the state, and his wife.
