Marygrove College’s Master’s in HR Management Renews Alignment with Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

DETROIT, July 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marygrove College announced today that the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has acknowledged that its Master of Arts in Human Resource Management degree has renewed its alignment with SHRM’s HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates.  The HR Curriculum Guidebook and Templates were developed by SHRM to define the minimum HR content areas that should be studied by HR students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The guidelines -- created in 2006 and re-validated in 2010 and 2013 -- are part of SHRM’s Academic Initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools and help universities develop degree programs that follow these standards.

Marygrove offers the Master’s degree in Human Resource Management online, making it flexible and affordable for HR professionals across the country and the world.  It focuses on the practice of human resource management in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations.  Courses offer both concept and skill components designed to help students base their practice of human resource management on solid theoretical grounding and are led by faculty members who have earned advanced graduate degrees and/or possess significant experience in the fields of business, organization behavior, and human resources.

Dr. Jerry Van Rossum, business department chair, said, “Aligning our graduate Human Resource Management program with SHRM curriculum guidelines assures our students that our program is current with the latest trends in the practice of human resource management and professional education.  We believe our graduates are even better equipped to add value as HR professionals.”

With 250,000 members, the Society for Human Resource Management is a globally recognized HR professional society that develop and serves the HR professional, advances and leads the HR profession through education, thought leadership, certification, community and advocacy to enhance the practice of human resource management and the effectiveness of HR professionals.
