Chembio Diagnostics, Inc. Announces Closing of Offering and Underwriters’ Full Exercise of Over-Allotment Option


MEDFORD, N.Y., Aug. 03, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chembio Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq:CEMI), a leader in point-of-care (POC) diagnostic tests for infectious diseases (“Chembio” or the “Company”), announced today the completion of an underwritten public offering of 2,300,000 shares of Chembio’s common stock. Included in the shares are 300,000 shares sold by Chembio pursuant to the underwriters’ exercise in full of their option to purchase additional shares of common stock. The shares of common stock were sold at a public offering price of $6.00 per share, for net proceeds to Chembio, before expenses, of approximately $12.8 million. The Company expects to use the net proceeds from the offering for business expansion and working capital, including product development, operational expansion or improvements, clinical trials, and sales and marketing.  

Craig-Hallum Capital Group LLC acted as the sole book-running manager, and The Benchmark Company, LLC acted as the co-manager for the offering.

The shares were offered pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement on Form S-3 (No. 333-210003) that Chembio previously filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).
