CTBC Bank Re-Ups Key Support of Huntsman Cancer Institute Expansion

SALT LAKE CITY , Aug. 15, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This week CTBC Bank Co., Ltd. (CTBC Bank)  and its parent company CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (CTBC Holding) will contribute $150,000 as a global partner to Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI), a major American cancer center dedicated to Changing the DNA of Cancer Care. This follows CTBC Bank’s similar contributions each year since 2014.

Focused on children and families, the additional research space will confront the three leading causes of disease death in children: leukemia, sarcoma, and brain cancer. This phase is the third expansion of the original Huntsman Cancer Institute, which opened in 1999.

“Cancer is the challenge of our generation,” said Susan Sheehan, President and COO at Huntsman Cancer Foundation (HCF).  “Tackling it requires a global approach.  Huntsman Cancer Institute is grateful for this support from CTBC, knowing that it will benefit so many. Donors like CTBC clear the way so that our researchers can do the important work of addressing the problems cancer poses.  It means we can accelerate cancer research and save lives.”

CTBC Bank is very honored to join Huntsman Cancer Foundation to eradicate cancer by helping build its world-class research team and facilities,” said Chao-Chin Tung, Chairman of CTBC Bank. “For decades, CTBC and its founder have brought tireless dedication to support the communities we serve,” added Noor Menai, President & CEO of CTBC Bank (USA) and Head of CTBC North America. “The foundation’s work makes an enormous difference for better health for families across the globe.”

In keeping with that tradition, on August 18 CTBC’s team will visit HCI while presenting its contribution for this critical cancer research expansion.
