Education at Work On-Campus Center To Create Over 200 Jobs for NKU Students

Local partnership introduces creative way to pay for college

CINCINNATI, Aug. 18, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Education at Work (EAW) will open an on-campus contact center in partnership with Northern Kentucky University (NKU) and Paycor, a cloud-based Human Capital Management platform provider based in Cincinnati. The center will eventually create over 200 on-campus part-time jobs that provide wages and tuition assistance to help NKU students pay college costs.

"We know that it can be difficult to be a student today, and that one significant obstacle to student success is often financial," said NKU President Geoffrey S. Mearns. "We are pleased to partner with Education at Work and Paycor, organizations that share our commitment to removing those barriers. This partnership will allow our students to thrive in an organization that challenges them academically, while helping them gain professional experience and graduate with less debt. It is another example of how we work each day at NKU to put our students first and to help them succeed."

Northern Kentucky University is a major metropolitan public university that prides itself on producing students who value excellence, integrity, inclusiveness, and innovation. Through partnerships and initiatives within the surrounding community, NKU prepares its more than 14,000 students for success after graduation and molds the leaders of tomorrow.

"Paycor is proud to support an organization that is making a difference in our region," said Paycor Chief Customer Officer Christine Kowalcyk. "Through this collaboration we prepare talented students in the Tri-state for their careers post-graduation, and we will potentially recruit these same students for professional positions within Paycor."
Paycor will bring the first 70 part-time jobs to the campus in October. At completion, the new campus contact center will house two clients and over 200 on-campus jobs for NKU students.

As Paycor representatives, students will build professional experience in client and technical back office support. Each EAW student employee will earn a competitive hourly wage, plus the opportunity to earn up to $6,000 in tuition assistance per year through EAW's tuition assistance program.

EAW is an affiliate of USA Funds, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit organization that supports Completion With a Purpose, enhancing student success in college and careers. Since Education at Work's inception in 2012, $271,946 in tuition assistance and $1,135,329 in wages have been awarded to NKU students who have worked at the organization's headquarters in Cincinnati or on a client site. To date, EAW student employees nationally have earned more than $2.3 million in tuition assistance and $11.3 million in wages.

"When I founded Education at Work, I intended to help college students in the Tri-state and then expand the mission nationally," said EAW CEO and founder Dave Dougherty. "Our region is fueled by innovative companies as well as forward-thinking universities, so we are thrilled that our latest on-campus partnership is with a leader from both of these sectors."
The Northern Kentucky University location is the third EAW on-campus center. EAW recently opened a center at Arizona State University. It also operates a center at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati.

A grand opening celebration for the center is planned for October.
