Kratos Introduces Monics® 200, A Fully-Featured, Cost Effective Sensor for Satellite Spot Beam Monitoring

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 08, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq:KTOS), a leading National Security Solutions provider, announced today the release of Monics® 200, a new, cost effective Radio Frequency (RF) satellite monitoring device suitable for applications such as multi-beam High Throughput satellite (HTS) monitoring, fly-away environments and instances where only limited monitoring is required, such as remote teleports with a small number of antennas.

Offering more features and benefits than any competitive spot beam product to detect and analyze interfering signals, Monics 200 is a self-contained, standalone device that can be integrated with other Monics family products to economically broaden the monitoring footprint for satellite operators launching next-generation HTS satellites and similar applications.

HTS satellites are the latest evolution of satellite communications systems providing significantly more capacity than traditional Fixed Service Satellites (FSS). In contrast to FSS wide beams that cover large geographical areas, HTS satellites feature smaller spot beams— potentially hundreds of such beams on one HTS satellite— all of which require more cost effective and intelligent monitoring solutions to ensure the required quality of service is being delivered to the ground.

Monics 200’s DSP-enabled RF measurements enable collection of RF data analytics for assessing HTS spot beam efficiency and effectiveness. It includes local storage of measurement data and forwards those measurements to the Monics Central Data Server (CDS).  In the event of a network failure, Monics 200 automatically updates the CDS with locally stored data when the network is restored. Thus operators are able to track any anomalies that may have occurred during a network outage.

Monics 200 brings the full power of Monics to spot beam monitoring in an economical, highly efficient solution. For more information please visit http://www.kratosnetworks.com/products/rf-management/carrier-monitoring/monics-200
