Sponda awarded once again Green Star in GRESB assessment for sustainability in property sector

Property investment company Sponda has again been ranked among the best companies in the property sector in the international Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) survey. For the fourth year running, Sponda was awarded a Green Star.

This year, Sponda has taken a giant leap in environmental efficiency in comparison with its peer group. “In partnership with our customers, we have developed solutions to increase the energy efficiency and eco-friendliness of properties. This recognition is proof that our Environmental efficiency and Environmental partnership programmes work effectively,” says Hanna Duraku, Sustainability Manager at Sponda.

The GRESB survey assesses the work done by companies in the property sector to promote sustainable development. The assessment, first introduced in 2009, includes all components of corporate responsibility, with companies evaluated comprehensively in the areas of company-level management, stakeholder co-operation and risk management. Factors affecting the assessment results also include energy consumption, energy certificates, waste utilisation and environmental classification.

The number of participants in GRESB has been growing steadily and, this year, data was collected from 759 companies and funds that manage 66,000 properties worldwide.
