GovDelivery’s 7th Annual UK Public Sector Communications Conference Hosts Communications Luminaries from Across Government

Event Shares Best Practices for Enhancing Citizen Engagement, and Recognises Winners of the Digital Strategy and Impact Awards 2016

LONDON, Sept. 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery, the leading provider of cloud-based software solutions which enhance the citizen experience and the impact of government-to-citizen and government-to-business communications, has announced the agenda for its 7th Annual GovDelivery Public Sector Communications Conference to be held 29 September in London. The full-day event will include keynotes from leading communications experts using digital communications to inform and engage millions of citizens, and drive better outcomes for communities.

Registration is now open for the complimentary event, where record attendance is expected based on more than 570 early registrations to date. Government and not-for-profit employees and contractors across the UK are expected to attend to exchange ideas, network, and learn how organisations are using digital communications to transform the way citizens access public services and engage with government in meaningful ways. Those interested in attending can register at govdelivery.co.uk/UKcomm16.

“Public sector organisations are using smart digital communications and citizen engagement technologies to communicate in ways that benefit the wellbeing of our society – ways that drive real action and positive change”, said Dave Worsell, Managing Director of GovDelivery Europe. “Once again, we’ll showcase the achievements and challenges of some of the people and organisations pushing forward with ‘digital-by-default’ initiatives to engage millions more citizens in more cost-effective online services, reduce demand on government resources, and improve outcomes by effecting behavioural change in society”.

This year’s keynotes include “Engagement for Change” delivered by Nigel Bishop, a public sector communications and customer involvement specialist who will discuss the pressing need for citizen engagement (at scale), in order for the public sector to successfully adapt to increasing citizen demand and reduced budgets. The Director of Skills and Partnerships at Doteveryone, Rachel Neaman, will consider ways to engage the 23% of people who are “digitally excluded”, and Carrie Bishop, Director at FutureGov, will discuss service design in the digital age.

Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights from their public sector peers who are using digital engagement technologies to help forge informed and connected communities. Huw Ap Dewi, Performance and Development Officer at Wrexham County Borough Council, Steve Langrick, Head of Online, Channel Strategy and Development at Kirklees Council, Tony Curliss, Operational Manager for Customer Relations at Vale of Glamorgan Council, and Emma Rodgers, Strategic Manager (Communications and Marketing) at Stoke-on-Trent City Council will all share details about how their organisation is using digital communications to drive outcomes, and their key learnings. GovDelivery experts will round off the agenda, leveraging their experience with more than 1,800 public sector clients to share important trends and guide attendees on the most effective ways to reach, inform and engage more citizens.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from these visionaries of digital government benefiting from shared best practice in the fields of public sector service design and digital communications. The experts running these programmes will share how government organisations are using digital technologies to increase citizen engagement and the success of public initiatives.

This year’s conference will also highlight the most recent winners of GovDelivery’s Digital Strategy and Impact Awards. This award programme was developed to honour effective and innovative digital strategy throughout the public sector. The shortlist will soon be available online at govdelivery.co.uk/awards.
