MARIMEKKO TELLS THE STORY OF ITS UNIQUE LIFESTYLE CONCEPT BY ARRANGING ITS SPRING/SUMMER 2017 PARIS FASHION WEEK PRESENTATION IN A MARIMEKKO HOME

Marimekko will present its spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection at Paris Fashion Week on 2 October 2016. The collection will be shown in a Marimekko home, set up in the Finnish Embassy in Paris, which invites media and industry professionals to be immersed in Marimekko’s positive and empowering lifestyle philosophy. By bringing the Marimekko home to Paris Fashion Week, the brand challenges traditional boundaries between fashion and design. 

In 2017, Marimekko will focus on the theme of courage and being true to who we are.

 “The spring/summer 2017 ready-to-wear collection celebrates the timelessness of Marimekko design. The concept of luxury is changing, and people are more and more interested in investing in a sustainable lifestyle and wardrobe, enjoying life as it is and following their own path. The new collection also includes some pieces pulled from our archives, and it is very inspiring to see how they feel very relevant still today, and find their place in the wardrobe of the modern woman in natural dialogue with new Marimekko designs. By presenting the collection in a Marimekko home, we want to showcase our point of view on what good design is,” says Creative Director Anna Teurnell.

By presenting at Paris Fashion Week, Marimekko continues to build further international awareness among and through fashion and design influencers and strengthen its distribution presence and online business position globally.
