Aegex Technologies to Launch New IoT Product during Microsoft Ignite

Atlanta, Sept. 20, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Aegex Technologies LLC, developer of the world’s first universally certified intrinsically safe Windows 10 enterprise tablet, will launch its newest Internet of Things (IoT) solution for hazardous industries on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at a separate event during the Microsoft Ignite global conference.

Aegex will present its news during a party at the Microsoft Innovation Center,  FlatironCity, 84 Peachtree St. NW, Atlanta, Ga. 30303, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. The invitation-only party is to include refreshments, music and digital artists creating artwork on Microsoft Surface Pro 4 laptops.

The new Aegex product, to be announced by CEO Thomas P. Ventulett, is the next major component in the company’s portfolio of Internet of Everything (IoE) solutions for hazardous and explosive industrial environments. Aegex’s flagship IoT product is the Aegex10 Intrinsically Safe Tablet, the world’s first Windows 10 tablet globally certified for hazardous locations where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are likely to occur in normal operation, such as in oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, and other industries with explosive atmospheres.

Ventulett’s Sept. 28 presentation will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the building’s main lobby.

He will also give updates about Aegex’s cooperation with Microsoft, the Guardian Centers, and other technology partners to build the unprecedented Aegex IoT/IoE platform.

“This is something that is really going to revolutionize large-scale hazardous industrial operations,” said Ventulett. “Think ‘Internet of Everything,’ the ‘Industrial Internet,’ and ‘Smart Cities,’ and then combine those with highly explosive environments. It’s very fitting that we are launching this during Microsoft Ignite.

Ignite is an annual conference hosted by Microsoft that brings thousands of IT professionals and developers from around the world to attend learning sessions, labs, trainings and certification opportunities about topics such as cloud infrastructure and management, big data, analytics, operating systems, mobile devices, etc.

Background:

Aegex’s world headquarters is in the Flatiron Building in Atlanta. It also has a European headquarters in Rotterdam, The Netherlands; engineering and production facilities in Hungary; and sales offices in Southampton, United Kingdom and Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The company’s flagship IoT product, the Aegex10 Intrinsically Safe Tablet, is the first Windows 10 tablet to gain certifications for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1, UL 913 Class I, II, III Division 1 and CSA 22.2 areas of hazardous locations. These approvals made the Aegex10 the world’s first Windows 10 tablet globally certified for HazLoc operations where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are likely to occur in normal operation, such as in oil and gas, chemical manufacturing, and other industries with highly explosive environments.

While most mobile devices are not permitted in highly volatile zones of hazardous locations because they could cause a spark, Aegex’s 10.1-inch tablets are certified intrinsically safe, or incapable of igniting an explosion. With full roaming capabilities, the Aegex10 4G LTE version is the only truly universal device for hazardous environments. Its Microsoft operating system and Intel architecture give the Aegex tablet unsurpassed Cloud, software and hardware support worldwide.

Aegex10 intrinsically safe tablets synchronize with an organization’s Internet of Things to allow users to transmit real-time data from within the most hazardous zones of their operations. Such cloud-based connectivity improves safety, efficiency and compliance and lowers risk, resulting in decreased downtime and optimized operations.

Aegex tablets bring certified enterprise mobility solutions to HazLoc environments. With a uniform platform, the devices are customizable for any team member in a HazLoc operation, from personnel in explosive zones to their managers who are off-site. In addition to running enterprise programs such as Microsoft Azure, Office and Outlook, customers can select task-specific applications and accessories from the Aegex portfolio to tailor the tablets for their particular workforce needs.
