Favorite Boston Social app "Getmii" Launches 2.0, Moves to Expand Nationally

Students rapidly joining private online community to help each other with everything from homework to advice to selling things

BOSTON, Mass., Sept. 23, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - If you live in Boston, odds are that someone you know under 25 is using Getmii.

Started last year by a group of friends from Harvard, Berkeley, Yale, Cambridge, and UChicago, the app has quietly been gaining popularity in a field long-dominated by established players like Craigslist and others.

Getmii is a "worldwide community of friends who help each other when we need things." In practice, students around the world use the app to broadcast their needs to other users near them, who then help out.

"I took a trip to Bangkok this summer and met three awesome Getmii members who responded to my need for someone to show me around," said Beth Young, a sophomore at Harvard University and Belmont, MA native.

Getmii relaunched version 2.0 today from their HQ at the Harvard Innovation Lab. "In the last 4 months, we've collected feedback from over 10,000 of our users about what they love, and what they want to change. Today's a big day for us," said VP of Strategy Fredrik Vateman.

"Our users are inviting their friends here in New England and now far beyond to the Getmii community. The best thing is that Getmii users help each other. There's intentionally very little that we as a team do, other than work on building an increasingly better product, and stepping away for our users to enjoy," said Maddie Rudnick, VP of Marketing.

An increasing number of students are using the app to make money by helping others like them, and also to make friends and connect with the people near them.

Getmii 2.0 is available especially for iOS 10 on the App Store for users worldwide. Check out their website at http://www.getmii.com.
