MEDIA ADVISORY: Discover Flavours from Around the Globe at the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Oct. 13, 2016) -

WHAT:

EXPLORE A WORLD OF FLAVOUR with the Edmonton Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival, sponsored by Sobeys Liquor and Safeway Wine & Spirits. This tasty event is back for its 15th year, featuring over 650 wine, beer, spirits and gourmet food samples inspired by regions from around the globe - no passport required!

The Grand Tasting Hall brings new-to-the-market products, tried and true favourites, trendy restaurants, catering companies and hotels from in and around the city, offering attendees a weekend of flavourful fun. Guests can explore the world through an impressive winery lineup: 127 wineries from 21 different countries, promising to satisfy everyone's palate, along with more than 150 brands of premium spirits, single malt and blended scotches, port, liqueurs and craft beers. Experience delectable flavours from more than 35 local restaurants and food purveyors who will prepare an incredible array of gourmet culinary samples, creating the perfect pairing for each sip.

Alberta's most exciting wine and food Festival is proud to offer something for everyone, with samples ranging from value-based to ultra-extravagant. This year, wine lovers will have the exclusive opportunity to taste the limited edition Taylor Floodgate 1863 Single Harvest Port, worth nearly $4,000 per bottle. For Scotch aficionados, a bottle of the Leading 42 Year Old, worth over $7,000, will be open for sampling. Port connoisseurs can also indulge in the Augusta 1941 Masala Superior Reserve, one of the 400 bottles available of this exclusive product in the world.

Great talent will also join us in the Grand Tasting Hall: visit renowned chefs, winemakers, brew masters, and key principals to discover the magic behind their products. Attendees are encouraged to take tasting notes and mark their favourites in the Festival Guide, and then vote for them in the Great Big Taste Awards post-event survey.
