CHAMBERSBURG, PA--(Marketwired - October 28, 2016) - Letterkenny Army Depot is currently conducting market research to locate qualified, experienced, and interested potential sources to provide:

  • 181 Brushes, Commutator, PN SP1388 for MLRS Hoist Motor

After awarding the contract, Letterkenny Army Depot intends to request one brush for a first article test. After approving the first article test, the Army Depot will request the other 180 brushes.

Salient characteristics of the brush:

  • Solid Carbon Brush
    • Nominal Dimensions (Figures 1, and 3): .625 wide x .500 height x .310 thick.
    • Concaved face (Figure 3.) with 0.75-inch radius.
    • Recessed hole (Figure 4.) of .255 diameter x 0.065 deep on top of the brush to accommodate and retain a compression spring.
    • Carbon grade: Electrographite, 45 hardness.
  • Shunt Wires
    • Two shunt wires riveted to the carbon brush. Each shunt is made up of 2 stranded wires. Each wire is insulated.
    • Shunt wires are terminated with a yoke which has a riveted locking nut with #6 - 32 threads per inch.
    • Locking nut center is at 2.00 from the top of the brush.
    • Each shunt wire is jacketed with insulating meshed fabric.

For the purposes of the RFI, the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 335991 - Brushes and Brush Stock Contacts, Electric, Carbon and Graphite, manufacturing. The small business size standard is 750 employees.
