LAWRENCE, Kan., Dec. 02, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Community residents are anticipating the beloved and traditional Lawrence Old-fashioned Christmas Parade down Massachusetts Street this December 3rd at 11am. Crandon & Crandon Optometry is a proud supporter of this family-friendly event that ushers in the holiday spirit for the last 24 years. This holiday parade offers unique aspects to delight one and all! Arrive early to the holiday parade to get a good viewing spot and set up for a traditional parade down Massachusetts Street, 7th to South Park. Crandon & Crandon Optometry is open during this holiday event.

The traditional Lawrence Old-fashioned Christmas Parade is a special event. This is the area’s only exclusively horse-drawn holiday parade. The event originally began as “The Eldridge Hotel Old Fashioned Christmas Parade” in 1993 with 21 horse-drawn carriages. It has grown to have as many as 85 entries and is a major event in the Midwest. Lawrence residents are coming together to celebrate its 24th anniversary this year. The family would not want to miss out on this upcoming Christmas Parade. The Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade kicks off with authentic horse-drawn carriages parading down Massachusetts Street. Families can cozy up with hot chocolate and blankets, and experience the true holiday spirit as they watch dozens of beautiful horses and wagons decorated with garlands and bells. Join friends and community residents to celebrate American heritage and continue the Christmas tradition in Lawrence this holiday season.

“We love supporting our community and continuing holiday traditions in Lawrence,” said Dr. Brent Crandon. “They called it the 'old-fashioned Christmas' parade because it lends itself to the history of downtown, it's a tradition. The parade is showing a greater need for sponsors and we were happy to increase their number. We look forward to it every year and enjoy peeking out and enjoying it as we work that Saturday. It is heart-warming to know that our support and those of community residents and businesses have made this parade possible for almost 25 years.”
