Dr. Chonggang Wang Receives Prestigious Recognition for Contributions to Internet of Things Enabling Technologies

WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- InterDigital, Inc. (NASDAQ:IDCC), a mobile technology research and development company, today announced that Dr. Chonggang Wang, a technical staff member in its IoT unit, has been named an Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Fellow, effective January 1, 2017, for his work benefiting Internet of Things (IoT) enabling technologies.

IEEE Fellows are elected based on outstanding records of accomplishments in any of the IEEE fields of interest. IEEE Fellow is the highest grade of membership and is recognized by the technical community as a prestigious honor and career achievement. Dr. Wang demonstrates solid expertise and experience in IoT architecture, and presently leads InterDigital’s IoT Protocol and Big Data team and is actively involved in other aspects of the M2M/IoT team including service platform and standardization. In 2015, Dr. Wang was selected as an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer, in which role he helped plan and speak at the Distinguished Lecturer Tours, and he began his role as Associate Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Transaction on Big Data in September 2016.

“The prestigious honor of having one of our current researchers chosen to hold the title of IEEE Fellow underscores the strength of the company’s engineers and our research in advancing the industry,” said James J. Nolan, Executive Vice President, IoT Solutions, InterDigital. “IEEE is highly regarded within the industry, and is an organization whose core purpose aligns closely with InterDigital’s work to advance technological innovation. The honor highlights Dr. Wang’s commitment to the development of the IoT, and validates his position as an industry leader.”

Through its 420,000 members in over 160 countries, the IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics. IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world's literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, and has developed nearly 1,300 industry standards and projects under development.
