MacB Promotes Engineering Design Program for Senior Students at Rose-Hulman

Dayton, Ohio, Feb. 27, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MacAulay-Brown, Inc. (MacB), a leading National Security company delivering advanced engineering services, cybersecurity and product solutions, announced today that the company has renewed its Engineering Design Program for senior students enrolled at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana. For the second year, representatives from MacB’s Advanced Technology Group (ATG) are coordinating with the institute’s faculty and senior engineers to engage in hands-on experience for designated projects at the company’s laboratory facilities and headquarters office in Dayton.

Seniors enrolled in electrical and computer engineering courses are assigned unclassified projects working through MacB’s Wright Innovation Laboratory. The new lab, celebrated with an Open House in October 2016, was established to support warfighter capabilities required by the company’s Electronic Warfare (EW) customers, which includes multiple U.S. Air Force programs at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and other Research and Development (R&D) locations.

Student engineering design projects include incorporating new features into available technology, advanced development, or specialized research projects. For example, 2016 students were asked to help evaluate solar power supply concepts and other performance details on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Similar detailed projects are assigned to help develop MacB’s next generation engineering talent, while making contributions towards meeting future Department of Defense (DoD) requirements.

“Our senior design program has evolved from being a convenient method to interact with engineering students at Rose-Hulman and other universities, into a pipeline for assigning important and challenging research and development tasks to excellent students,” said Tim Lawrence, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MacB’s Advanced Technology Group. “These in-depth projects are managed through our Wright Innovation Lab, providing electrical and computer engineering students with hands-on experience, while giving us insight into their innovative capabilities to deliver real work products.”
