Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Technical Solutions Division Exercises Options On Naval Modernization Contract

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., March 16, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that its Technical Solutions division recently received a modification to a previously awarded contract to provide maintenance, modernization and Chief of Naval Operations availabilities on amphibious-class ships (LSD, LPD, LHD) homeported in San Diego.

The original contract was awarded to HII’s Continental Maritime of San Diego subsidiary. Continental Maritime was consolidated under Technical Solutions in December 2016 when HII acquired Camber Corp., a government services company headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama. Work will be performed by Technical Solutions’ Fleet Support Group and, if all options are exercised, the work is expected to be completed by March 2018.

“As a certified Master Ship Repair Contractor, we look forward to this opportunity to serve the U.S. Navy’s vision to modernize their fleet,” said Dan Flood, Continental Maritime’s vice president and general manager. “This award allows our workers to continue showcasing our superior mechanical and electrical repair capabilities overhauling the world’s finest amphibious vessels.”
