Project HOPE Launches Global Health Podcast Series on World Health Day

"Global Health Checkup" to Address Health Challenges of Developing World

MILLWOOD, Va., April 6, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Project HOPE, an international development and relief organization, is pleased to announce the launch of "Global Health Checkup," a new podcast series that focuses on the latest news, issues, events and trends in global health development and disaster relief.
The podcast series will feature renowned experts across the global health landscape starting with Dr. Tom Kenyon, M.D., M.P.H., the CEO of Project HOPE and former Director of the Center for Global Health at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"We're thrilled to launch the Global Health Checkup podcast on World Health Day on April 7th to promote a dialogue around the challenges we face in global health development and humanitarian assistance. As part of the series, we will highlight international efforts to respond to health emergencies and discuss innovative approaches to combat HIV/AIDS, TB, and maternal and child mortality, said Dr. Kenyon.
"Global Health Checkup will feature a variety of voices including experts, thought leaders, and people on the frontlines who are building the health capacity of partner nations struggling against the burden of disease, outbreaks and humanitarian disasters," Kenyon said.
The first episode, The Epidemic Had To Do With Love, addresses global health security and efforts to make vulnerable communities prepared for the next public health emergency – including learnings in the wake of the Ebola and Zika crises. In future episodes, we will address the potential impact of proposed U.S. budget cuts on foreign aid; experts will shed light on China's public health crisis caused by dangerously high levels of air pollution, and consider how the world can up its game in the fight to end TB by 2035.
New episodes of "Global Health Checkup" will be posted on the Project HOPE website at www.projecthope.org/podcast as well as on Libsyn.
