Outokumpu hosts a Machining Day together with IMS Nederland and IMS Belgium on April 12, 2017 in Zwijndrecht, the Netherlands to showcase Prodec stainless bars.

Says John Stansfield, head of Long Products sales in Europe: “We are demonstrating the Prodec range: Prodec stands for superior machinability and it is Outokumpu’s proprietary stainless steel range that delivers production economy and cost savings. We are pleased to start our cooperation by arranging a joint customer event with IMS in Benelux who have vast knowledge of customers operating in machining industry in Belgium and the Netherlands.”

Says René den Ouden, head of sales at IMS Nederland: “Outokumpu Prodec range gives our customers better machinability compared to other improved machinable bars in the market. These products enable higher machining speeds, longer tool life, and superior part quality with reduced total cost for finished parts.”

According to Outokumpu tests, Prodec higher machining speeds enable double tool life compared to the competing materials. When the processing time shortens, customers can optimize machining speeds to gain significant cost savings per component – depending on the application, the cost savings can be up-to 50%.

IMS will offer Prodec round bars in the complete size range from 6 mm to 100 mm and beyond if requested. Prodec range is available in grades 304L/4307, 316L/4404, 303/4305 and 17-4PH. These are suitable for all kinds of machining applications such as fasteners, valves, pressure fittings, nuts, bolts and screws, gears, shafts, and bearings.
