30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Fall for Second Consecutive Week; Current Rate is 3.72%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, July 25, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.72 percent, down three basis points from this time last week. The 30-year fixed mortgage rate moved lower throughout the week before settling at the current rate.

“Mortgage rates fell to their lowest levels of the month as fears eased that the European Central Bank would soon remove recession-era polices,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “This week markets are likely to look toward Friday’s Q2 GDP and consumption data for signals about the strength of the American economy. Weak data would suggest that inflation is likely to remain slow, and rates could fall in response.”

Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.

The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.96 percent, and the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.95 percent.
