Huntington Ingalls Industries Joins CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion

NEWPORT NEWS, Va., July 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that it, along with more than 250 other of the world’s leading companies, has signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™, the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion is led by a steering committee of CEOs and leaders from Accenture, BCG, Deloitte US, The Executive Leadership Council, EY, General Atlantic, KPMG, New York Life, Procter & Gamble, and PwC. The coalition represents nearly 70 industries, all 50 U.S. states, and millions of employees globally.

“Our goal has always been to ensure that the least empowered person in the room has the confidence to speak up and share their view,” said Mike Petters, HII president and CEO. “We believe that our employees are truly our most valuable assets, and we want them to feel part of a workplace community that respects and appreciates each one of them.”

The CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion will come together for the first time at the 2017 CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion Summit this November. It will be an opportunity for the signatories to act on the commitments within the pledge, share best known actions, and look toward developing additional commitments for advancing diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
