Capsule8 Names Meg O'Leary Chief Marketing Officer; Eric O'Brien Vice President of Product; George Williams Chief Data Scientist

Company Prepares to Launch Industry's Only Attack Disruption Platform for Cloud-native Environments with Senior-level Hires

BROOKLYN, NY--(Marketwired - September 07, 2017) - Capsule8, the pioneer behind the industry's only automated attack disruption platform for cloud-native environments, today announced the addition of three experienced executives to its leadership team. Meg O'Leary was named chief marketing officer, Eric O'Brien has been hired as the company's vice president of product, and George Williams has been named Capsule8's chief data scientist. O'Leary, O'Brien and Williams will play key roles in launching Capsule8's groundbreaking platform at the end of this year. The Brooklyn-based company, founded by an experienced group of hackers, launched its beta product, Capsule8 Protect, at Black Hat USA in July.

As chief marketing officer, O'Leary will spearhead the company's brand positioning, lead the integration of all marketing, and drive the company's demand creation and communications strategies. As Capsule8's vice president of product, O'Brien will shepherd the product management team, driving the company's product vision and roadmap, while ensuring Capsule8 Protect's successful delivery. Responsibilities for Williams, as chief data scientist, will include overseeing Capsule8's data management, modeling, and analysis to turn key data into actionable product and business insights.

Meg O'Leary is a well-known marketing professional, who co-founded InkHouse and grew it to one of the largest agencies in the country. In 2014, she was named one of the "Top Women in PR" by PR News for her work as co-founder and principal of her "PR Platinum Award" winning "Agency of the Year." Prior to co-founding InkHouse, O'Leary held key marketing positions at Charles River Ventures, Mercator Software (now IBM), and Novera Software. She also served in various marketing and product management roles for RSA Security. O'Leary calls the Capsule8 market opportunity too enticing to pass up: "Capsule8 represents an opportunity for me to leverage my deep roots in cybersecurity marketing at an innovative startup with a unique approach and a killer founding team that is changing the game in enterprise security."

Eric O'Brien has led product and development teams at some of the best-known cybersecurity firms in the world. O'Brien successfully served in various product leadership roles at FireEye, McAfee, and CyberTrust, which was acquired by Verizon. Prior to Capsule8, he was VP of product management at Silversky, which was successfully acquired by BAE Systems. At BAE Systems, he was VP of product management for their entire commercial portfolio of security products and services. O'Brien believes Capsule8 represents the future of cyber: "As architecture and infrastructure continues to migrate to the cloud, Capsule8 is one of a small handful of organizations leading the shift for IT security toward cloud-native environments. Remaining at the front of that pack and ultimately winning the race is a challenge I'm honored to embrace."

George Williams' career in data science has spanned both industry and academia, including senior engineering and research roles – most recently at Apple and NYU's Courant Institute. He holds patents in mobile and secure computing and has published several papers on applications in machine learning. His latest book titled "Practical Data Science For Cybersecurity" is due out in January from Cypress Publishing. Williams describes his role as exciting and opportune: "Capsule8 is poised to materially change an enormous industry. I'm excited to join this talented team and look forward to taking the lead in building the unique data models our solutions will offer to help organizations dramatically improve and simplify their current infrastructure security."

"The additions of Meg, Eric, and George to our leadership team greatly strengthens our upcoming platform launch," said John Viega, CEO of Capsule8. "Meg's marketing experience in the cybersecurity sector and her experience founding one of the high-tech sector's hottest public relations agencies will help ensure our go-to-market strategy is optimally organized, executed, and recognized. Eric's product and engineering experience at some of the best-known cybersecurity firms in the world will only serve to strengthen our product and assure its proper execution in the marketplace. Meanwhile, George's impressive and extensive experience as a leader in the exploding field of data science will help us use data and modeling to not only bolster our product, but also to accelerate market adoption and grow our business. This powerful trio adds tremendous depth to our bench."
