TELUS and Mojio Accelerate Canada’s Connected Car Ecosystem with the Launch of TELUS Drive+

Available today nationwide, TELUS Drive+ harnesses the capabilities of Mojio’s open platform for connected cars

TORONTO, Oct. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More Canadians are embracing the global connected car movement thanks to TELUS, Canada’s fastest-growing national telecommunications company. TELUS is partnering with Mojio, the leading open platform for connected cars, and ZTE, a premier manufacturer of phones, tablets, Wi-Fi and connected car devices. This new solution will enable Canadians to equip their vehicles with a range of exciting features that aim to make driving smarter, safer and more convenient. TELUS Drive+TM is available today nationwide, and is made easy for Canadians to experience at $0 upfront.

“We are excited to launch TELUS Drive+ and the Connected Car category on Canada’s largest and fastest network,” said Rob Currie, Vice President, Mobile Devices at TELUS. “The Drive+ offering allows us to provide customers with important driving safety features, vehicle diagnostics and convenient connectivity for passengers.”

Built by ZTE and running on Canada’s largest and fastest mobile network (1), the TELUS Drive+ device is compatible with most vehicles built after 1996 and simply plugs into the car's On-Board Diagnostic (OBD-II) port. After downloading the TELUS Drive+ app, powered by Mojio, on their smartphone from the Apple App Store or Google Play and completing the easy setup, customers can access a range of features that will help keep their family safe, secure and connected at all times:

  • Car Tracker: Track your car’s location, monitor driving behavior and set speed alerts
  • Car Care: Get notifications containing diagnostics and insights about your car’s health
  • Stay Connected: Turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 5 devices in the car.

“There are nearly 18 million ‘disconnected’ passenger vehicles on Canada’s roads. Our goal is to rapidly decrease that figure while simultaneously offering a smarter, safer and more convenient driving and vehicle ownership experience,” said Kenny Hawk, CEO of Mojio. “As a Canadian company, we are passionate about helping Canada take more of a driving role in the connected car movement. TELUS is a pioneer in bringing the Internet of Things to Canada, and together we are going to innovate and constantly improve the TELUS Drive+ experience.”

As of today, TELUS Drive+ is available nationwide at TELUS retail locations. For more information and to learn more about the solution, please visit telus.com/drive.
