STATEMENT BY U.S. CONFERENCE OF MAYORS PRESIDENT AND NEW ORLEANS MAYOR MITCH LANDRIEU ON MASS SHOOTING IN LAS VEGAS

Washington, D.C, Oct. 02, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In response to last evening’s mass shooting in Las Vegas, U.S. Conference of Mayors President and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu released the following statement:

“Once again our nation has experienced a mass shooting – this one occurred in Las Vegas and killed and injured more people than any previous mass shooting in America.  Once again brave first responders risked their lives to save people and locate the shooter quickly and efficiently.  The nation’s mayors send their thoughts and prayers and condolences to the victims and their families, to Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, and to the people of Las Vegas.”

“We don’t know what the shooter’s motivation was or how he acquired automatic weapons, but are confident that local police working with the FBI, ATF and other federal authorities will continue the excellent investigative work they have begun and determine why and how this happened and what we can do in the future that will help us to prevent such horrific shootings from occurring.”
