Cleveland, Ohio, Oct. 26, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- While a universal definition of contemporary art may be elusive, tangible definitions are not necessary to create highly contemplative pieces of art with limitless beauty. Gallery W, the public art gallery located on the ground floor of American Greetings Creative Studios world headquarters, proudly celebrates two standout artists in the contemporary genre – John Pearson and Audra Skuodas – with an upcoming exhibit of their paintings. Titled “Slow Seductions: Works by John Pearson and Audra Skuodas” and displayed courtesy of 1point618 Gallery, the show will run from Friday, November 3 through Friday, December 1, 2017, and the public is invited to the opening reception from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8.
The Lithuanian-born Skuodas received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Visual Arts in 2010 from the esteemed Cleveland Arts Prize organization – the oldest award of its kind in the United States – and describes her act of creating as “purely intuitive release.” Skuodas’ work over the last five years has been guided by the concept of “vibrational vulnerability,” or as Skuodas defines it, “the invisible phenomena of incremental cause and effect.”
Similar to his wife, Pearson also is a native of Europe and a Cleveland Arts Prize winner (1975 Visual Arts award). His distinguished career includes more than 40 years of teaching at Oberlin College and more than 100 one-man exhibitions worldwide. According to Pearson, his recent work “continues a trajectory of investigation that I have been pursuing over the last ten or more years: the notions of growth and life constantly regenerating – a cycle that is seemingly endless.”
