Statement by U.S. Conference of Mayors President and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu on ACA Open Enrollment

Washington, D.C, Nov. 01, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Open Enrollment season for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) kicks off today, despite politically motivated actions from Washington intended to suppress enrollment. Given the reach of city halls across the country, mayors are stepping into the breach to boost coverage and access to quality, affordable care at lower cost. The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) President and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu released the following statement:

“The defining promise of the Affordable Care Act is that all Americans deserve, and shall have access to, quality affordable health care. While Washington attempts to cynically dismantle and destabilize a program that has saved lives and kept money in the wallets of American families, mayors across the country in big cities and small towns alike will promote enrollment to ensure that as many people they represent as possible have the best care possible. Over the next 45 days, mayors will lead from city halls across the country through a coordinated, strategic series of programs and events to promote enrollment and boost coverage.”
