Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas, and The Breeders Play from Bed for Kids Facing Cancer

Bedstock is “Bigger and BEDDER” Streaming November 28 at www.bedstock.com

PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MyMusicRx, the flagship music medicine program of the Children’s Cancer Association (CCA), is pleased to announce the return of Bedstock, a life-changing music festival where artists play from bed as a show of solidarity with seriously ill kids spending the holidays in hospital beds. This year’s online music festival is “Bigger and BEDDER” than ever with a star-studded lineup that includes Ed Sheeran, Nick Jonas, Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band, The Breeders, Iron & Wine, Molly Kate Kestner, Vance Joy, Milky Chance, and Shinedown. In-bed performances from these and nearly 100 participating artists will debut on www.bedstock.com on Giving Tuesday, November 28, to help fund and raise awareness for MyMusicRx, whose free-of-charge programs deliver the healing power of music to thousands of hospitalized kids and teens across the country.

“I’m excited to be performing from bed for Bedstock this year and hope that my fans and social followers will join me in supporting such an amazing cause,” said Nick Jonas. “To play in bed for hospitalized kids who can’t get out of theirs, is an incredible honor that I am proud to be a part of.”

Since 2014, Bedstock has featured performances from more than 100 artists, 40 kids served by MyMusicRx programs, and 40 writers reading their favorite children’s books from bed. With help from recording artists like Panic! At the Disco, Jack Johnson, Moby, Norah Jones, Tegan and Sara, Jim James, X Ambassadors, Francesco Yates, The Decemberists, Lucius and BØRNS, the festival has generated 350M campaign impressions and raised more than $95,000 to fuel MyMusicRx bedside and online music medicine programs at 25 pediatric hospitals nationwide.

New for 2017 is a festival-plus approach that encourages the global online community to participate in Bedstock through #BedstockChallenge. Artists will play from their beds on Giving Tuesday and invite their fans, other musicians, comedians, chefs, athletes, and influencers to film their own Bedstock videos, post to their own social networks, and challenge their friends to participate through the end of the year. With their help, we hope to raise $100,000 through sponsorships and grassroots donations, doubling participation, reach, mission impact, and funds raised during the last three years.

“Bedstock is an incredible showcase for the kids we have the privilege to serve and for our passionate belief that joy matters and music heals,” explained Regina Ellis, Founder and CEO of the Children’s Cancer Association. “By literally playing from bed, artists and their fans can join MyMusicRx in making a difference right now in the lives of children and teens in the fight of their lives against cancer and other devastating diagnoses.”

Festival partners also include Beautyrest, Epiphone, Nike, The FADER, Cornerstone, Atlantic Records, Columbia Records, Entercom, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Ace Hotel, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Sonos, Pandora, The Door, and Anomaly, a new model agency whose NYC creative team first conceived of Bedstock as a pro-bono project in 2013. Since then, the campaign has won numerous advertising awards including the 2017 North American Effie Award (Silver, Positive Change: Social - Non-Profit), The Mashies (Finalist, Best PSA Multi-Platform Campaign), 2016 Digiday Content Marketing Award (Best Agency/Client Collaboration), One Show Silver Pencil (Best Interactive, Non-Profit Website), and the 4A’s Jay Chiat Strategy Award (Silver, Non-Profit).
