ScholarChip Commits to Data Privacy by Signing The Privacy Pledge

NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ScholarChip®, the largest provider of automated school safety and operations services, is now a signatory of the Student Privacy Pledge developed by The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA). The Pledge safeguards student privacy on the collection, maintenance, and use of student personal information.

“ScholarChip is dedicated to protecting the data we collect. We use the highest industry standards, and our servers, databases, backups, and firewall technologies actively guard the information entrusted to us,” said Craig Lockwood, president, ScholarChip. “We stand together with this important organization and we are proud to sign and commit to The Privacy Pledge.”

ScholarChip collects attendance data for close to a half-million students on a daily basis, which requires an advanced and vigorous system. Its approach is to provide schools with the most robust, yet simple to use devices to collect data, and then provide all services in a single central location where skilled developers and technicians can maintain a close watch over system operations.

In addition to its K12 services, ScholarChip provides high speed financial services to 1.8 million post-secondary students attending 490 colleges and universities. ScholarChip’s K12 system and higher education financial services share the same database infrastructure, with data security certifications that are the most stringent. These standards are verified by quarterly, independent, third-party testing.

All electronic communication is encrypted or sent via a private link to approved recipients. ScholarChip uses industry-standard hardware and software in combination with authentication and certification by third parties, and it encrypts all sensitive information and financial data.
