Revive Therapeutics Announces Exclusive License Agreement with Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation for Cannabinoid Delivery Technology

TORONTO, April 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Revive Therapeutics Ltd. ("Revive" or the “Company”) (TSX VENTURE:RVV) (OTCQB:RVVTF), a company focused on the research, development and commercialization of novel medical and pharmaceutical cannabinoid-based therapies, today announced that it has entered into an exclusive worldwide license agreement with Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation for the commercialization of the Company’s cannabinoid delivery technology (the “Agreement”).  The Company intends to develop novel cannabinoid-based therapies and to partner with licensed medical marijuana producers and pharmaceutical companies.

“We are very pleased to secure exclusive worldwide rights to intellectual property relating to the cannabinoid delivery technology in creating unique cannabinoid-based products for the medical and pharmaceutical cannabinoid markets,” said Craig Leon, Chief Executive Officer of Revive. “We are now in a position to partner with licensed producers of medical marijuana and pharmaceutical companies focused on commercializing cannabinoid-based therapies, to advance our current cannabinoid-based product initiatives in liver diseases, inflammation, pain, and skin disorders, and to expand our product pipeline targeting rare diseases.”

The Company's delivery technology aims to deliver cannabinoids in combination with tannin and chitosan composites.  The tannin composite has antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and wound healing properties, and the chitosan composite has blood-clotting and antimicrobial properties.  The combination of cannabinoids, tannin, and chitosan has the potential to become a unique delivery technology to serve broad market opportunities for the medical and pharmaceutical cannabinoid markets.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Company gained exclusive worldwide rights to intellectual property for the development and commercialization of cannabinoid-based products for therapeutic and/or prophylactic purposes delivered via transdermal, subcutaneous, buccal-mucosal or oral applications.  Consistent with industry standards Revive will pay a one-time fee for entering into the Agreement and all other future payments will be based on clinical trial and revenue milestones reached by Revive in future.
