Ekspress Grupp has announced on the 21st of February, 2018 the reorganization of 50% joint venture AS Ajakirjade Kirjastus. Estonian Competition Authority gave its approval on the 21st of March.
We will announce that according to the agreement, Ekspress Meedia, the daughter company of Ekspress Grupp, will take over the publishing of monthly magazines Eesti Naine, Anne ja Stiil, Pere ja Kodu, Oma Maitse, Tervis Pluss and Jana and the weekly magazine Kroonika as of May 31st, 2018. From the 1st of June, Ekspress Meedia is the responsible publisher of these magazines.
AS Ajakirjade Kirjastus, together with the rest of publications will be merged with AS SL Õhtuleht; after the merger the name of the new legal entity will be AS Õhtuleht Kirjastus. These two companies will be merged also on the 1st of June, 2018.
The main goal of the reorganization is to create a better online-output of the content of printed magazines of Ajakirjade Kirjastus and support the co-operation between the publications and the strong web platforms of the group. In 2018, it is not reasonable to begin constructing a new large web centre, instead it is sensible to offer the reader quality content in co-operation with existing platforms. None of the magazines issued will be closed: the strong media brands will continue being published, but their content will be more accessible to the readers. The six monthlies and the weekly Kroonika will be available on the website of the market leader Delfi. Õhtuleht on the third position will be able to strengthen itself with the content of three monthlies, crosswords and the weeklies, which are well compatible with its profile. For the subscribers, all magazine subscriptions will remain unchanged.
The ownership structure of the newly merged company, AS Õhtuleht Kirjastus, will not change. As before, it will belong to AS Ekspress Grupp and OÜ Suits Meedia in equal parts.
