Old Town Newhall Parking Structure Celebrates Grand Opening

NEWHALL, Calif., May 10, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- On May 10, Swinerton, Watry Design, and the City of Santa Clarita celebrated the grand opening of the Old Town Newhall Parking Structure. Located in the heart of historic Newhall, this unique parking structure proudly links the city’s past and future together as one.

A $14-million design-build project partnership between Swinerton and Watry Design, this is the first parking structure built by the City of Santa Clarita. Totaling roughly 152,000 square feet, the six-level structure has 372 stalls. Design work began in July 2016 and construction began in January 2017.

The Old Town Newhall Parking Structure is adjacent to a new mixed-use development and upscale theater. One side of the structure will serve as a movie screen for residents and visitors, while the rooftop will be used for special functions such as concerts.

In addition, the structure seamlessly blends in with the existing architecture of the neighborhood. Newhall is the oldest community in Santa Clarita, and to keep with the classic feel, the parking structure features extensive architecture on the exterior. It includes storefront mullions, fabric and metal awnings, steel-stud framed elements with integral-colored plaster, architectural foam cornices, and decorative fin elements.

Swinerton, Watry Design, and the City of Santa Clarita would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication that led to the success of this design-build partnership.
