Firm’s Shielded Alpha℠ structure provides revolutionary way for active managers to port their strategy to an ETF wrapper while protecting key sources of alpha
NEW YORK, May 24, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Blue Tractor Group, LLC (“Blue Tractor”) announced today that it filed its sixth amended and restated application with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) for its innovative Shielded Alpha℠ ETF structure.
A Shielded Alpha℠ ETF is designed to be highly transparent, disclosing daily the full list of portfolio holdings to the market, but not specific portfolio weightings, thereby fully obscuring a fund’s alpha strategy.
“We are seeking to solve the challenge for best in class active managers who would like to offer funds in an ETF structure but are concerned that the required daily portfolio disclosure under current active ETF rules is detrimental to the execution of their strategy,” said Terence (Terry) Norman, Founder of Blue Tractor.
Added Simon Goulet, Co-Founder of Blue Tractor, “We greatly appreciate the timely feedback from the staff at the SEC as we continue to move through the application process.”
Blue Tractor’s application, filed on May 23, 2018, was prepared by Michael W. Mundt, Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP and is now available for review on the SEC’s website through the EDGAR database at https://www.sec.gov.
Blue Tractor seeks to enter into licensing agreements with investment advisers who could potentially utilize the Shielded Alpha℠ solution to bring to market their own Shielded Alpha℠ ETFs. Blue Tractor will be in attendance at the Inside Smart Beta and Active ETFs Summit in New York on June 6 and 7, 2018 and will also be at the Morningstar Investment Conference in Chicago June 11 through 13, 2018.
