MINNEAPOLIS, May 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) --  2023 Partners and Medical Alley Association announce MANOVA, a global summit on the future of health in Minnesota’s Medical Alley, taking place October 8–11, 2018 at multiple locations across downtown Minneapolis, including the Walker Art Center. The inaugural global summit will bring together over 2,000 global thought leaders, executives, entrepreneurs and technologists who are innovating at the crossroads of consumer health, retail delivery and medical technology. Tickets are available now at manovasummit.com

Titled MANOVA – an elision of ‘Medical Alley’ and ‘inNOVAtion’ – the four-day summit will explore best practices, showcase innovations and breakthroughs in healthcare, and explore new ideas for improving the global health and wellness ecosystem around the globe. The MANOVA programming lineup will feature keynote speakers and topical sessions, including: Global Best Practices in Healthcare, The New Consumer Landscape for Health and Wellness, Disruptive Ideas and Emerging Trends in Medicine and Health, Environmental Challenges in the Health Industry, and Opportunities for Venture Capital and New Investments in the health and medical sectors.

“This region, known as Medical Alley, is the global epicenter of heath innovation and care, with many of the world’s leading health companies and health-related start-ups transforming how we think about and deliver healthcare around the globe,” said Shaye Mandle, President & CEO of the Medical Alley Association. “As the home of health leaders and pioneers, we are excited to host the global conversation on the future of health here in Medical Alley.”

“We are living in disruptive times where empowered consumers will take and demand a more active role in their health, and what it means to be healthy. This conversation will start with how we approach our lives, our communities and will affect where, when and how we seek and receive what we call ‘healthcare’ in the future,” said Mark Addicks, Chief Executive Officer of 2023 Partners, the producing team that is bringing Manova to life. “Minneapolis and Medical Alley should be the host of these global conversations around health innovation around the world.”

“Thanks to globally-renowned medical facilities, prestigious education institutions, and innovative medical technology companies, Minnesota is a national leader in quality health care,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “This summit will showcase our rapidly growing medical sector, highlight new advances and technologies, and encourage the further development of one of our state's most promising areas for future growth.”

Some of the keynote speakers and panelists announced today are best-selling author, founder of Huffington Post and founder and CEO of Thrive Global, Ariana Huffington; Sam Kass, food entrepreneur, former White House chef and Senior Policy Advisor on Nutrition for President Obama; National Geographic Fellow and New York Times best-selling author Dan Buettner; leading health thought leader Andy Slavitt who led the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services under President Obama and is now head of Town Hall Ventures; Aneesh Chopra, current President of Care Journey and former Chief Technology Officer of the United States. The full slate of speakers and presenters will be announced later this summer.

The conference will include three days of talks, presentations, breakthroughs, roundtables and experiential exhibitions and engaging entertainment as well as an optional fourth day of discussions, called MedCity Invest which specifically targets players in Minnesota’s robust venture capital and start-up sectors – a day programmed in collaboration with trade publication Med City News, a subsidiary of New York City-based Breaking Media.
