Cambridge Associates Adds Senior Professional to Lead Work Identifying and Researching Women- and Minority-Owned Investment Managers

Jasmine Richards Will Focus on Diverse Managers in all Asset Classes for Global Investment Firm’s Institutional and Private Clients

BOSTON, July 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cambridge Associates announced today that Jasmine Richards, a highly experienced investment research executive, has joined the global investment firm to lead its ongoing initiatives to identify and research institutional-quality investment managers in all public and private asset classes that have diverse owners or leaders, including women and people of color.

As Senior Investment Director, Manager Diversity, a newly created position, Richards reports to Ashby Hatch, Head of Public Equities Research, and is based in the firm’s Boston headquarters.

“We believe that strong investment performance depends in part on the diversity of ideas, backgrounds and geography among the managers with whom we invest on behalf of our clients. Accordingly, we are committed to increasing the number and range of minority- and women-owned investment managers in our universe,” said Noel O’Neill, Head of Global Investment Research at Cambridge Associates. “We are delighted that Jasmine Richards, who is seasoned in this arena of research, due diligence and networking, has joined Cambridge to direct our efforts to turn up the volume on this work.”

He noted that Cambridge Associates currently tracks 300-plus minority- and women-owned managers and 750 strategies that fall into the minority- and women-owned category – and that the firm is committed to building upon that base.

Said Richards, “There is significant talent among institutional investment managers with diverse and minority ownership, and it is exciting to have joined a global investment firm that is dedicating the resources needed to ensure no stone is left unturned. Heightening the firm’s focus on this initiative will not only create more opportunities for the firm’s institutional and private clients, whose goals may be both financial and social-impact oriented, but it will also help advance and create opportunity for emerging investment leaders of diverse backgrounds.”

Richards joins Cambridge Associates from FIS Group, where she was International Equity Manager and Research Analyst responsible for identifying and managing investment strategies, with an emphasis on diverse-owned asset managers. She previously worked in manager research, sales and client management roles at several other firms, including Oppenheimer Asset Management and State Street Global Advisors. Richards studied Mechanical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where, among other international experiences, she studied Emerging Markets public and private equity at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
