Lightbend to Launch Reactive Architecture Training

Free online training course brings popular Lightbend Reactive training curriculum to IBM Cognitive Class


SAN FRANCISCO, July 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lightbend, provider of the leading Reactive application development platform for building distributed systems and the company behind Scala, Akka, Lagom, and Play Framework, today announced that its popular instructor led training series -- Lightbend Reactive Architecture -- is now available online for free, on IBM’s Cognitive Class. IBM’s Cognitive Class is a series of free data science and cognitive computing courses, with a virtual lab environment that enables users to practice what they learn.

Lightbend Reactive Architecture is a crash course in thinking differently, with a self-paced format and guidelines from Lightbend experts. Lightbend Reactive Architecture has codified lessons learned, best practices, reference architectures, design patterns and analysis techniques, drawing from Reactive’s track record of success at companies like LinkedIn, Verizon Wireless, Capital One and Walmart Canada.

The Reactive Manifesto, originally published anonymously but later revealed as the work of Lightbend co-founder and Akka creator Jonas Bonér, for the first time set out key principles for building systems that react to modern demands on distributed services at scale. Reactive systems are designed to deal with the inevitable failure of services in complex, modern architectures. A Reactive system is an architectural style that allows multiple individual applications to coalesce as a single unit, reacting to its surroundings while aware of each other, and enable automatic scale up and down, load balancing, responsiveness under failure, and more.
