SAN FRANCISCO, July 25, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Google Cloud Next Conference -- Virtru, a trusted provider of data protection and data privacy solutions for more than 8,000 organizations, is extending its longstanding partnership with Google to offer customers end-to-end encryption for Google Drive.
Virtru has been Google’s Recommended Application Partner for encryption since 2016, enabling thousands of customers to add layered protections to Gmail messages and attachments. By extending Virtru Data Protection to Google Drive, enterprise customers can fully migrate their most sensitive data to the cloud while meeting compliance and confidentiality requirements. The new offering is currently being previewed by large enterprises around the world and will be generally available in Q4 2018.
Virtru Data Protection for Google Drive will allow customers to add data-centric encryption, dynamic access control and flexible key management to any file uploaded to Drive. Files are encrypted before upload and protections persist even after files have been shared with collaborators outside the customer organization.
Beyond end-to-end encryption, the new features deliver key capabilities for any enterprise moving to the cloud:
- Customer Hosted Encryption Keys: Keys may be hosted on-premise or in any cloud to give customers exclusive control over encrypted file content and prevent surveillance
- Enforce Enterprise Policy: Set and manage policies by Group, OU or user that automatically encrypt Drive documents, folders, and Team Drives
- Audit and Visibility: Audit and track file sharing through easy-to-use dashboards and integrations with security information and event management (SIEM) systems for enhanced incident response and compliance reporting
- Powerful Access Controls: Instantly revoke access, watermark documents, disable sharing and set expiration dates for any file or folder
- Secure Sharing and Collaboration: Share encrypted files with anyone on any system, even if they do not have a Google account

Unlike legacy approaches to data protection which rely on proprietary standards, TDF-protected data can be easily shared with any collaborator on any platform.
