New Advisory Board Members Bring Deep Knowledge of Information Security, Incident Response, Counterintelligence, and Pen Testing Expertise to Foster Continued Deception Technology Innovation


FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attivo Networks®, the award-winning leader in deception for cybersecurity threat detection, announced today that four widely acknowledged cybersecurity industry experts, Marshall Heilman, Chris Roberts, Lawrence Pingree, and Bill Ender have joined the company’s Advisory Board.

The Attivo Networks Advisory Board is designed to further enhance the company’s deep expertise in addressing the ever-evolving global cyberthreat challenges. Attivo Networks has forged relationships with several advisors with highly specialized backgrounds and unique perspectives. These experts regularly study cyberattackers, understand their tactics thoroughly, and provide insights that drive continuous innovation of the company’s deception technology portfolio to effectively counter modern cyberthreats.

Heilman, currently a Vice President at FireEye and running the Managed Defense and Technical Operations & Reverse Engineering (TORE) teams, brings more than 16 years of cybersecurity experience to the Attivo Networks Advisory Board. He oversees the global Managed Defense team responsible for protecting FireEye customers and the TORE team responsible for empowering the company to find evil and solve crime more efficiently. Heilman joined  Mandiant in 2006, which was acquired by FireEye in 2013. Prior to joining Mandiant, he was in the United States Marine Corps, specializing in information security. Other areas of expertise include enterprise-wide incident response strategies, cybercrime investigations, and general security architecture. Heilman has extensive experience working with government organizations and businesses across a broad range of industries globally.

Roberts, currently Chief of Adversarial Research and Engineering for LARES, LLC., is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on counter threat intelligence. With increasingly sophisticated attacks on targets of opportunity, Roberts’ unique methods of addressing the evolving threat matrix and experience with all information systems make him an indispensable partner to clients and industries that demand protection of financials, intellectual property, customer data, and other protected information from attack. He was previously Chief Security Architect for Acalvio Technologies, where he drove deception technology innovation, directing a portfolio of services designed to improve the physical and digital security posture of clients. Collectively, Roberts has more than 20 years’ security experience working in enterprise, industrial, and government segments. 

Pingree previously served as Research Vice President at Gartner, Inc., and is currently Vice President of Product Management at SonicWall. He has more than 23 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry where he has consulted for large financial institutions, corporations, and government entities on strategies for strengthening their overall cybersecurity practices. He has held information security roles at Safeway, Williams-Sonoma, and Peoplesoft (Oracle). At Gartner, Inc., Pingree was a pivotal resource in researching, comparing and evaluating products, services, and related technology in the cybersecurity industry. In this role he specialized in deception technology and other information security trends and competitive market analysis. Additionally, he is a member of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP), and is a founding board member of the Digital Forensics Association.

Ender is an innovative security and technology leader and early adopter of deceptive defense, having successfully led two large-scale deployments of Attivo Networks technology. He is the former CISO of Vyaire Medical and CareFusion (now part of Becton Dickinson), previously served as SVP of Corporate Information Security for Wells Fargo and is the founder of RightBrainCISO, an advisory service provider to leading-edge security startups and investors. At both Vyaire and CareFusion he also led the foundation of Product Security programs to integrate Security into the design and development of medical devices. Ender brings more than 35 years of experience in entrepreneurial start-ups, small businesses, and multinational corporate security leadership roles across multiple industry sectors, including manufacturing, financial services, high-tech, and healthcare.
