St. Louis, MO, Aug. 08, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Smith Management Group (SMG), an Associa company, hosted the second session of the CAI board leadership development workshop titled “Fundamentals of Financial Management” at The Lodge in Des Peres, MO.
The event included more than 50 board members, vendors and SMG employees who heard presentations on industry topics including:
- Recognize five types of governing documents in the order of their authority
- Identify four main functions of community association boards
- Describe liability issues and protection for board members
- Recognize the roles and responsibilities of each officer
- Learn three types of committees and their roles
- Recognize roles and responsibilities of a professional manager
- Decide when to seek guidance from other professional partners
The CAI board leadership development workshop is usually held as one eight-hour class. For board member’s convenience, SMG hosts the workshop as four separate, two-hour quarterly sessions. The next session on August 30th will provide information on community communications, meetings and volunteering, as well as hiring professional service providers.
