Spots Still Open for Individuals with Special Needs to Play Baseball at the Miracle League of Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 11, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Miracle League of Arizona is an organization in the North Scottsdale that serves individuals with special needs. The league removes any and all barriers so that each athlete gets the chance to experience fun, success, and friendship through the game of baseball. Athletes are paired with a one-on-one helper and friend, called a buddy, that provides everything from hand over hand assistance to cheers, high fives, and praise. It is free for athletes to participate, and they receive a personalized uniform with a jersey and hat.

The organization is about to kick off their fall 2018 season, and there is still room for more participants. Games are on Saturdays, Thursday evenings, Wednesday evenings, and many spots are open for Tuesday evening games. All individuals are welcome, regardless of mental, physical or health challenges. “We encourage families to come and try the league out, without cost and pressure, and then we sit back and let the miracles happen,” says Executive Director Cassandra Switalski.

Players at this league receive a “major league” experience, as they are provided a jersey with their name and number on the back, their own walk-up song and name announced over the PA system, baseball cards, end of season awards, and more.

The Fall season begins Saturday September 29th, and registration for athletes and volunteers is still open. Please check out the website, www.mlaz.org, or contact Executive Director Cassandra Switalski at cswitalski@mlaz.org for more info.
