CIT and NTIA to Cohost Virginia Broadband Summit

Summit designed to cultivate partnership opportunities to enhance broadband access across Virginia


Herndon, VA, Oct. 02, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Center for Innovative Technology (CIT), in partnership with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s BroadbandUSA Program, will host the Virginia Broadband Summit in Roanoke, Virginia on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

The Summit will focus on engaging with Virginia’s public and private stakeholders to accelerate broadband connectivity, improve digital inclusion, and support local priorities. The Summit will provide information on topics including local broadband planning, funding and engagement with service providers. Speakers and attendees from Virginia, federal agencies and across the country will come together to explore ways to facilitate the expansion of broadband capacity, access and utilization. The Summit will take place at the Roanoke South County Library and will feature an agenda full of engaging speakers, panels and lively discussion:

  • 8:00 a.m. - Registration and Continental Breakfast
  • 8:30 a.m. - Welcome and Opening Remarks
  • 8:45 a.m. - The Power of Partnerships: Working Together to Strengthen Broadband Infrastructure
  • 10:15 a.m. - Planning a Community Broadband Roadmap
  • 11:30 a.m. - Lunch Break
  • 12:30 p.m. - Proactive Broadband Planning
  • 2:15 p.m. - Broadband Programs and Funding Opportunities
  • 3:15 p.m. - What Does the Future Hold for Virginia Broadband?

The event is open to the public but pre-registration is required as space is limited.
