SAN DIEGO, Oct. 22, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BioLabs San Diego, Southern California’s premium coworking facility designed to help high-potential life-science startups go further, faster on limited capital investment, is now accepting applications for its new shared office space. Located at the Eastgate Campus in the University Towne Centre (UTC) area of San Diego, BioLabs is opening the space given the high demand from biotech startups. The 27,000 square-foot expansion space is designed for entrepreneurs seeking office space — as well as for early-stage companies that want all the benefits of being part of BioLabs’ creative bioinnovation ecosystem, but do not require the full wet-lab facilities offered in BioLabs San Diego’s original location.
Currently home to 32 early-stage life science companies, BioLabs San Diego is celebrating its second year of operations in San Diego and continues to make an impact in the market as the premier coworking space for life science startups. Since opening in 2016, BioLabs has helped more than 45 companies get started and grow and these companies have added more than 80 new jobs to the Southern California economy.
“We are very excited to be opening a second location in the Southern California biotech cluster, with expanded office spaces to enable digital health companies, distributed teams and virtual pharmaceutical companies, along with those who need to expand clinical operations to develop,” said BioLabs Founder Johannes Fruehauf, M.D., Ph.D. “After successful operations over the past two years, we are committed to growing the Southern California biotech footprint and providing services to amplify the network and resources for life science companies.”
Commenting on the second location, Susie Harborth, co-founder in San Diego and COO of BioLabs, said, “San Diego is home to some of the most innovative companies, yet there remains a need for private office spaces surrounded by peers in the industry; BioLabs is responding to a trending need in the community. We are excited about the expanded space because, with it, we will be able to help more entrepreneurs realize their visions. Through unique space offerings and exclusive, signature programming, the new space adds diversity to our portfolio of outstanding services.”
Members will have access to both BioLabs facilities in San Diego, at the Genesis campus (10210 Campus Point Drive, San Diego, California, 92121) for office and laboratory offerings or at the Eastgate campus (9620 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, California, 92121) for team offices and event space. Biocom is a Founding Partner of BioLabs San Diego as are pharmaceutical partners: Novartis, Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi, Lilly, Takeda and Tosoh Corporation.
