The Ontario Energy Association Provides Government with Recommendations to Reduce Electricity Costs and Regulatory Red Tape Across Ontario’s Energy Sector

TORONTO, Nov. 07, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Ontario Energy Association (OEA) today released two submissions to the new Government of Ontario with recommendations on how to (1) minimize electricity bills for families and businesses; and (2) reduce regulatory burden for energy companies which will help lower energy costs for consumers.

The first submission discusses some additional options to reduce, avoid increases, or minimize electricity bills for Ontario families and businesses while maintaining the reliability, safety and resiliency of the system that customers demand.

The second submission puts forward ideas that reduce and streamline red tape and regulations in Ontario in a way that lowers costs in the energy system, lowers the costs of utilities and businesses in the energy sector, and ultimately lowers costs for Ontario’s energy consumers.

“The OEA has leveraged the knowledge and experience of its energy leader members to put forward ideas and options to minimize the energy bills of Ontario’s families and business,” says Vince Brescia, President & CEO of the OEA. “The OEA looks forward to working with the new government to develop and implement these options to minimize bills while delivering reliable clean energy.”

Both submissions continue to build on the three key areas presented in the OEA’s Energy Platform:

  1. Reforming the governance of energy planning;
  2. Optimizing use of existing infrastructure; and
  3. Lead regulatory evolution.
