National Business Group on Health Announces “Best Employers:  Excellence in Health & Well-being” – The New Name of its Healthy Lifestyles Award Program

WASHINGTON, Feb. 11, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Business Group on Health announced today it has changed the name of its long-running “Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles®” awards program to “Best Employers: Excellence in Health & Well-being.”  The new name reflects a shift among large employers toward a more holistic approach to employee health and well-being that is broader than physical health. Applications for this year’s program will be available beginning Monday, February 11, 2019.

The National Business Group on Health launched the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® program 15 years ago to recognize large employers with exceptional commitment to improving their employees’ overall well-being, productivity and quality of life. Through the years, the program has evolved to incorporate a wide range of well-being contributors including job satisfaction, community involvement, financial security, emotional and physical health, and social connectedness. Winning companies are presented with awards at the Business Group’s annual Workforce Strategy conference.

“We changed the name to more accurately reflect the accomplishments of organizations who embrace the dimensions of employee well-being as a cultural priority and integral part of an overall workforce strategy,” said Brian Marcotte, President and CEO of the National Business Group on Health.  “The goal is to deploy the most engaged, healthiest and competitive workforce possible. As such, the Best Employer awards recognize an employer’s overall excellence in advancing employee, family and community health and well-being.”

More than 180 U.S employers have been named recipients of Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles® awards since the program’s inception. These employers represent more than two dozen industries including health care, financial services, consumer products, manufacturing and technology. Many employers have been recognized for multiple years.
