Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz “Pass it Along” to A New Dawn

SANDY, Utah, Feb. 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mountain America Credit Union and the Utah Jazz announced today that A New Dawn is this season’s fourth recipient of “Pass It Along,” a program featuring fan-nominated opportunities that reward five local charitable organizations with $5,000 each. With this month’s donation, the “Pass It Along” program has now contributed $150,000 to local charitable organizations since its inception in 2013.

A New Dawn provides new beginnings for northern Utah women and children in recovery from domestic violence and substance abuse. The organization’s mission is based on the struggles faced by its founder, Kat Dawn, in her personal recovery process.

“As a grassroots nonprofit, we rely heavily on the community for support. We were and are overcome with the generosity and appreciate the community hearing the call for help and recognizing that this is a need,” says Kat Dawn. “We want to thank the Utah Jazz, Mountain America Credit Union and our local supporters for choosing us as the beneficiary for this month’s ‘Pass it Along.’”

Earlier this month, Mountain America Credit Union President and CEO Sterling Nielsen met with representatives from A New Dawn to learn more about how it is helping families in need in the community.

“A New Dawn empowers families to rebuild their lives by providing vital resources for women and children recovering from domestic violence and substance abuse,” says Nielsen. “Thank you, A New Dawn, for bringing hope to families and working to end the cycle of abuse and addiction.”

A New Dawn will receive tickets to Saturday night’s Utah Jazz game against the Dallas Mavericks, where representatives from Mountain America Credit Union, the Utah Jazz and A New Dawn will be on hand for a pregame check presentation. The presentation will be live streamed from center court prior to Saturday’s game at approximately 6 p.m. (MT) on the Utah Jazz Facebook page.

Fans are encouraged to nominate local charitable groups that they feel go above and beyond in giving back to the community via www.utahjazz.com/passitalong. One winner is announced each month, from November through March 2019, for a total of $25,000 donated to five deserving organizations. This season’s previous “Pass It Along” recipients were Big Brothers Big Sisters of Utah, Operation Underground Railroad and Continue Mission.
