Sysco Celebrates International Women’s Day


HOUSTON, March 08, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sysco Corporation (NYSE:SYY), the leading global foodservice distribution company, today announced the Company’s inaugural observance of International Women’s Day across its global organization.

“Our celebration of International Women’s Day demonstrates our commitment to inclusiveness, one of Sysco’s core values, and a workplace where all associates are empowered to contribute to our company and to achieving our business goals,” said Tom Bené, Sysco’s chairman, president and chief executive officer. “It also reinforces our pledge to increase total U.S. associate ethnic and gender diversity to 62 percent, one of our 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals.”

As part of the Company’s global celebration, Sysco invited prominent women leaders from across the organization, as well as from multiple customers and suppliers, to participate in a special panel discussion at the Company’s headquarters in Houston on Tuesday, March 5.

Focused on the 2019 International Women’s Day theme of #BalanceforBetter, panelists discussed how they promote gender equality within their teams, balance work and home life, and their experiences as women leaders in the foodservice industry.

Sysco associates from around the world also shared their thoughts on International Women’s Day and what it means to #BalanceforBetter at Sysco in a video compiled in recognition of the day.
