YA Novel The Stand-In from Carolrhoda Lab® Becomes the Netflix Film The Perfect Date Starring Noah Centineo

Minneapolis, MN, March 12, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Stand-In, written by Steve Bloom and published by Carolrhoda Lab®, is coming to Netflix on April 12, 2019, as The Perfect Date. The romantic-comedy movie produced by Awesomeness Films and Ace Entertainment, stars Noah Centineo (the breakout star of To All The Boys I've Loved Before and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser), Laura Marano (Lady Bird, Austin & Ally), Camila Mendes (Riverdale), Odiseas Georgiadis (Trinkets), and two-time Emmy nominee Matt Walsh (Veep).

In The Perfect Date, Brooks Rattigan (Noah Centineo) raises funds for college by creating a dating app where he’ll "stand in" for non-existent boyfriends. Based on the book The Stand-In by Steve Bloom, directed by Chris Nelson, and produced by Matt Kaplan and John Tomko, The Perfect Date shows how playing a different character every night of the week can lead to questions and heartache.

“Books from Carolrhoda Lab are known for enthralling teen readers and we’re excited that The Stand-In can now enthrall movie fans as well,” said Adam Lerner, Publisher and CEO of Lerner Publishing Group. “With The Perfect Date streaming in April and the new Chico Bon Bon: Monkey with a Tool Belt series, which is based on our children’s picture books by Chris Monroe and in production now, we’re happy that our books will find a new audience on Netflix.”

“I thought this day would never come,” said The Stand-In author Steve Bloom, who co-wrote the script for The Perfect Date as well. “As exciting as it will be to see my characters come to life on the screen, nothing replaces the written word.  So if you like the movie, you’ll love the book.”
