CYPRESS, Calif., March 18, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Yamaha Motor Corp., USA, is delivering its all-new adventure gravel e-Bike, the Wabash, to bicycle retailers across the country this spring bringing legendary power assist bicycle performance to the growing gravel category.
The Yamaha Wabash is a Class 1 power assist electric bicycle designed and developed from frame to motor by Yamaha, the pioneering leader in e-Bikes since 1993. It is made for exploration and cycling adventures with performance and versatility that excels on both hard surfaces as well as off-road dirt and gravel surfaces.
“The gravel category is growing because of the performance and versatility built into these bikes, and Yamaha really keyed in on these areas for the new Wabash,” said Drew Engelmann, Yamaha’s Power Assist Bicycle group sales and marketing manager. “The Wabash is fun to ride, and it’s made for adventures right out of the garage no matter the terrain.”
The Wabash combines traditional road bike design elements with key off-road performance features including:
Yamaha’s PW Series SE drive unit comes standard on the new Wabash and includes four power levels providing speed support up to 20 mph, cadence support up to 110 RPMs, and max power of 500 watts. As part of the most natural and smoothest power assist system on the market, Yamaha’s drive unit adapts immediately and with great efficiency to what is going on during the ride, maintaining seamless transitions through the power assist levels.
Yamaha’s exclusive high-speed sensor is designed into the rear hub of its Power Assist Bicycles. The “zero cadence” assist feature immediately detects any forward pedaling movement and activates the power support system.
“The Wabash brings together the biggest growth segment in cycling – e-Bikes – with one of the hottest trends in cycling – gravel – and the original innovator and one of the global leaders in e-Bikes – Yamaha,” said Rob Trester, who leads the Yamaha Power Assist Bicycle group in the U.S. “Bringing Yamaha’s experience, quality and reliability to this type of adventure bike will give riders both the performance and the peace-of-mind that they’re on the best gravel e-Bike out there.”
Additional Wabash features include:
The all-new Yamaha Wabash comes in a new Latte color scheme with an MSRP of $3,499.
